We are delighted to bring our A Star Tuition brand to a new home at Norton Lindsey, Warwick. Students from Warwick and Kenilworth can now benefit from our bespoke 11 Plus tuition and SATs tuition courses held at Norton Lindsey Village Hall, initally on Monday evenings from 4-6.30pm.
With a focus on nurturing minds into becoming critical thinkers, we will develop the key skills needed to be successful in the Warwickshire and West Midlands GL 11 Plus Exam. Our small group tutoring sessions are all conducted using traditional pencil and paper, using originally created and frequently updated resources to enhance student learning.
We offer weekly homework packages alongside our lessons, not to burden students, but to our solidify classroom learning and we encourage a little and often approach to work outside of lessons. Lessons are fast paced but fun and because we keep our group sizes small, we remain agile to students needs and can differentiate work within a group setting, whilst also allowing students to build competitive friendships.
The Warwick and Kenilworth 11+ Jr Tuition Course is designed to build solid foundations within core 11 Plus maths topics, comprehension skills and exposing students to the many varieties of Verbal Reasoning, Non-Verbal Reasoning and Spatial Reasoning questions (including brand new question types before you wil find he elsewhere) as part of the Warwickshire GL 11+ exam board. This course will sharpen student’s skills ingrained from ‘The Foundation Course’ and navigate a path for students to seamlessly progress into our year 5 11 Plus tuition course. Weekly homework material and half termly progress papers are available to consolidate lesson material.
The Year 5 11 Plus Tuition Course for Warwick and Kenilworth covers higher level maths topics that form the year 6 maths curriculum, English comprehension skills, Verbal Reasoning, Non-Verbal Reasoning, Spatial Reasoning and crucially, diving deeper into 11 plus exam technique specific to the format of the exam in our area. Students will regularly complete tasks under timed conditions, allowing them to become adept at working under pressure and taught time management techniques to allow them to maximise their scores under the Warwickshire 11 Plus exam format. Our 11 Plus students also have the opportunity to take part in our 11 Plus summer intensive course, Verbal and Non-Verbal Reasoning masterclasses and 11 Plus Mock Exams in Warwick, which run through the curse of year 5.
Our recommended gold package includes weekly homework material as part of all our 11 plus and SATs tutoring courses to help students consolidate their classroom learning with us. Also included in this package are regular (half termly) progress test papers for students to practise the material taught each half term, to the 11 plus or SATs format. Allowing us to share progress and areas of strength and weakness with parents.
Through our sister company – The 11+ Mock Exam Company we run regular 11+ Mock tests for the Warwickshire 11 Plus Consortium. Our Warwickshire 11 Plus Mock Exam papers have been expertly designed to accurately replicate the most up to date question styles, format, and timings of the actual 11 plus exam.
Understanding the exam process and required exam technique under the strict test conditions is as important as learning the course material itself. Routinely, students need regular practise to familiarise themselves with the format and perform at their best. The optimum number of Warwickshire 11+ Mock Exams to sit is recommended as four. This allows students to be tested on every variety of Vebal and Non-Verbal reasoning style question and identify gaps in knowledge or weaker areas, polish their exam technique and gain confidence in tackling the unique exam format.
